8. The Sacristy

Also created between the 13th and 14th centuries, until the beginning of the 18th century it was also the place where the Basilica’s Treasures were kept: the large wall closet, the work of Bartolomeo Bellano, was made in 1460 to hold the relics, which since the end of the 17th century have found their place in the current Chapel of Relics.
The cupboard doors are covered with wooden inlays by Lorenzo Canozzi, depicting in perspective books, liturgical objects and an ideal city inhabited by the Saints Bernardine and Jerome, Francis and Anthony, Ludwig of Anjou and Bonaventure. The ceiling features a 1665 Baroque fresco by Pietro Liberi, with the Glory of St. Anthony, full of joyful and luminous figures.
