7. The Chapel of blessings

This is the chapel where the faithful come to ask for blessings and to have objects blessed to bring as gifts to those facing difficult existential situations. For this reason, the iconographic program of the frescoes that Pietro Annigoni created between 1981 and 1983 for this chapel includes episodes in which God is present at the height of failure (the Crucifix) and two difficult moments in Anthony’s life: on the left The Sermon to the Fish, on the right the Encounter between Anthony and one of Frederick II’s lieutenants, the tyrant Ezzelino da Romano.
